Brass Mount The Brass Mount is in the north-east angle of the outer ward and was an early addition to the curtain wall. Although it has been partly altered over the years the original probably dates from the reign of Edward I. Heavy brass cannons were deployed here during the seventeenth century and its military function continues to this day.
