Legge's Mount Legge's Mount offers protection to the north-west angle of the outer wall in the way the Brass Mount guards the north-east corner. Most likely dating from the reign of Edward I, it was raised to its present height in 1683 to accommodate gun batteries. Charles II's idea was to put ninety guns along the walls. George Legge, Lord Dartmouth, was appointed Constable of the Tower in 1684, hence the name, Legge's Mount.
